Photo a Week: Cold

This is me and my two best friends last year at our bonfire.

This morning I woke up to 30 degree weather in the middle of November, this isn’t very common for Florida. This is my favorite type of year, not because I like being cold but for what the cold weather brings. Since I live out in the boonies, with cold weather comes the best things about the outdoors! It comes with hunting seasons, bonfires, late nights and of course CHRISTMAS… and for me my birthday! With the cold comes chili’s and soups, hot cocoa and coffee, smores and grilled foods and late night, friendly, all together, bundled up, FUN!

What is there not to love about winter, even if you don’t like the weather there is so many cute clothes just go bundle yourself up and enjoy the rest of the AMAZING things about winter.

This Thanksgiving I don’t get to be one of the “kids” at the family get together, I am actually being responsible for some f the food we will be eating, now I am a good cook, but this is new too me and I am very excited to share this experience with all of the other women in my family. My family celebrates Thanksgiving in the afternoon, altogether then we have the chance to go to other get togethers, this year after my normal Thanksgiving meal with my family I get the chance to do everything I love about winter all in one night!

Next Thursday evening I am going hunting and hoping to kill my first deer, after that we are having a “Kids day” where we are getting all of our friends together at my boyfriends house, cooking any deer meat that’s been killed and have a bonfire. It is one of my favorite nights of the year, it is something have been doing for almost five years now. Everyone has a great time but by the end of the night, when we are running out of fire wood and we are all freezing our butts off we go inside, make ourselves some hot cocoa or coffee and watch movies for the rest of the night.

This is the best tradition I have been a part of and it is likely to be a tradition that I carry on with my kids when they get old enough.

  1. The winter does bring great outdoor activities like you said hunting, campfires and the crisp feel of the weather. For me Winter reminds me of family get togethers. I’m still not to fond of the cold, cold weather but a bit chilly is bearable. I hope you have or have had a very Happy Birthday. Hope it was a great one with many more to come and for Thanksgiving, cook it up. I m so excited to stuff my face with food, but I’ll cook a little bit but prefer just eating!!!!!!!!!! Have a happy Thanksgiving be safe.
